This morning, I set off at 9:00 in 43° fall sunshine, fully intending to do my big round trip of 30+ miles to the Matthaei Botanical Gardens. Initially it was going well enough, but by 6 miles in I was beginning to experience pain in both knees and in my left hip. Over the next couple of miles, as I pedaled on, I prayed for wisdom and guidance regarding this issue, as well as openness of mind to the question of what I should do, rather than intransigence. By the time I reached Lillie Park (the 8-mile point), I was feeling pretty convinced I should defer the longer ride, and just settle for the Platt/Packard Square today.
This gave me a ride of 13.6 miles in 1:55.
