Today, on the fourth day of my Great Cycling Challenge (a fundraiser for kids' cancer), I knew that I'd need to get my ride done early, as I am hiking with my friends Tom Brown and Tom Clark at 10:00. So I began at 6:30 (about as early as is practicable at this time of year), in humid, 72° conditions.
I rode the Packard/Platt Square, and as I was just over a mile from home, I was blessed to come up behind my good friend Doug Franklin, out on his daily walk up from his home in Saline. We agreed that it was good to get out before it got too hot, as it will later.
